Obituary of Robert Lee Allison

Robert Lee Allison of Tucson, Arizona passed away the morning of January 7th, 2024 at the age of 81.

Bob was born in Stockton, California on September 26th, 1942 to parents Charlie and Lorraine (Kriegs) Allison. An only child, Bob was an independent little boy, who kept his mother on her toes. Bob started the first grade in Denison, Texas, and the family then moved around the west coast to Albuquerque, New Mexico, San Diego, California, and Stockton, California, before settling in Tucson, Arizona, where Bob started his freshman year at Pueblo High School, graduating in 1960. After graduating high school, Bob worked for National Cash Register from 1961-1964, where he enjoyed repairing broken cash registers. Bob was introduced to the love of his life, Loyette Bogard, in 1956 through her uncle. Bob and Letta married in Raton, New Mexico in 1963. After finding employment through El Paso Natural Gas, Bob and Letta moved east, to Colorado, and then to New Mexico.  While in New Mexico, in October of 1966, they welcomed their first daughter, Cindy Kay Allison. The couple welcomed their second daughter, Rena Ann Allison, in September of 1968.

Bob and Letta moved back home to Tucson to raise their girls. Bob enjoyed taking his daughters and their friends on vacation to Oceanside, California every summer in his Greyhound bus, where they stayed at the KOA Campgrounds.  A true jack-of-all-trades, Bob was a skilled mechanic and marksman. He was an avid gardener and had a passion for growing orchids in his greenhouse. After their daughters graduated high school, Bob and Letta moved to Marana, Arizona. Bob retired from El Paso Natural Gas as a Senior Corrosion Technician in the early 2000’s. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, vacationing in southern California and Florida, tending to his garden, which included plenty of tangelo trees, working on his motorcycles, re-loading his shotguns, feeding stray kittens, and raising Schnauzer puppies. In his later years, Bob enjoyed brewing his kombucha tea at home. Bob was always an arm’s reach away from a jar of Peter Pan peanut butter and always had a glass of fresh iced tea in hand.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Charlie Allison. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Loyette E. Allison, daughters, Cindy (Keith) Coppens, of Mesa and Rena (Kenneth) Taylor, of Sonoita,  grandchildren, Meagan McAdorey,  James (Kiley) McAdorey, of Tucson, and Jared (Dalton) Taylor, and two great-grandchildren, Braelynn and Braxton Taylor, of Missouri.

Bob was a hardworking man, a loving husband, and a fantastic father and Papa. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loved ones.
