Obituary of Patrick Cady Lennan

PATRICK CADY LENNAN

May 18, 1939 - July 18, 2023

Patrick C. (Pat) Lennan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18th with loving family by his side. He had sustained serious head injuries as the result of a fall. Pat was born in Mason City, Iowa and attended Mason City Junior College where he was selected for the first team NJCAA Football All American team as offensive tackle. He was recruited to the University of Arizona where he majored in education and attained a M.Ed degree. He served as a teacher, counselor, football coach, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for several middle and high schools in Arizona and Texas (including Amphitheater and Canyon Del Oro) and also served as Superintendent of Schools in Superior and as the Director of the Small and Rural Schools of Arizona. Pat was a man of integrity, truth and hard work. He was dedicated to helping others, particularly the many students he came in contact with. He had a wonderful sense of humor and often told friends that “he was their 3rd grade teacher and that it was the worst three years of his life.”

Pat was married to Darleen A. Lennan for 36 years and they loved to travel. He never met anyone that he couldn't strike up a conversation or friendship with. Together they spent a year administrating the schools on the island of Saipan and traveled extensively throughout the region. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity at the U of A and a long time member of the Rotary Club of Tucson. Pat leaves behind his loving wife, Darleen, brother John and sister Mary, sons Michael (Stephanie) Lennan and Christopher Lennan, step-sons John and Gordon Videen, and eight grandchildren; Patrick, Clayton, Michael, Anthony and Austin Lennan, Michael Alessi and Scotia and Paisley Code. Pat will be missed by his many friends. A celebration of Pat's life is being planned for a future date.
