Jane Stewart Palmer

September 22, 1937 – September 28, 2023

PALMER, Jane Stewart, age 86, of Tucson, AZ, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2023. Jane was born on September 22, 1937 to the late Edwin and Ruth Stewart. She graduated from St. Augustine Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 1977 where she raised her three youngest children as a single parent.

Jane was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She is survived by her children: Colleen Janek, Cathleen (Gary) Petre, Karen (Scott) Simon, Patti Fellers, and Randy (Toni) Palmer. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tim (Nicole) Janek, Kevin (Claire) Janek, Dan Janek, Jackie Petre, Alex (Madison) Petre, Jenny Simon (Doug Barrett), Megan Simon, Michael (Lauren) Fellers, David Fellers, Anelise Fellers, Daniel Palmer, and Gabrielle Palmer. Jane is survived by her twin sister, Jean Brabenec, as well as her younger sister, Pat (Dave) Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Edwin; brother, Ed Stewart; brother-in-law, Paul Brabenec; and sons-in-law, Tom Janek and Jack Fellers.

When Jane moved to Arizona, she quickly became an avid University of Arizona basketball fan. She was known for her boisterous enthusiasm and loyalty to the team.

The family of Jane Palmer would like to thank Gloria and Hector from La Hacienda for the exceptional care they provided. Also, thank you to the staffs at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carondelet St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Center, and Grace Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3rd at 2:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Parish at 1375 S Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery, 2151 South Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson, AZ.

The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona at donations@communityfoodbank.org or San Xavier del Bac Mission School, 1950 W San Xavier Road Tucson, AZ 85746-7409. Their school will be reopening for the 24-25 school year.
