Obituary of Martin Anthony Ortega

Martin Anthony Ortega

January 29, 1969- July 28, 2022

Martin entered heaven on July 28, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona and is reunited with his beloved mother and father. He was born and raised in Tucson and married his best friend Jacqueline. The center of Martin’s universe, were his two daughters, Tyler and Neve and his granddaughter Stevie-Nichole. Whom he fondly called “Little Stevie Nicks” He had nicknames for everyone and called Tyler, “Darlin” and Neve, “Ducky”. He extraordinarily cherished his numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandson, Alex Salrin. Music was a huge part of Martin’s life. His love for live music caused him to attend countless concerts. Though his taste in music was vast, he especially loved the band U2. An avid reader, Martin would take his girls to Bookman’s where they would spend hours picking out books to take home to read. Martin was the best traveling companion one could ask for because he loved to make people laugh, and he gave the most insightful life meaning discussions. One of the most meaningful times of his life was being a caregiver for his mother; ironically the date of his death was the date of her birth. Born on January 29, 1969, Martin was preceded in death by his father, Leandro Maldonado Ortega and mother, Felicita Benavidez Ortega. Martin is survived by his partner, Charles Salrin and best friend Jacqueline Rendon Guevara; daughters Tyler Nichole Ortega (Steven), Neve Alyssa Ortega, and granddaughter, Stevie Nichole; siblings, Julie Duarte (Sam); Louis Joseph Ortega (Brenda); Dan Ray Ortega (Stacey); Leonard Mark Ortega; and Bianca Jean Ortega (Bobby Joe). If you knew Martin, you were probably helped by him in some way. He was quick to be at your side whenever you needed help. Martin was larger-than-life and wanted everyone around him to feel accepted, supported and loved for who they were. The kind of person who sang at the top of his lungs and ensured everyone around him felt loved. He encouraged everyone to live their lives to the fullest and “get fun”. All gave some - Martin gave all. May the Ortega circle be unbroken. We will celebrate his life every day, remembering not to take life for granted, say “I love you”, always pay it forward and love unconditionally. We will sing his favorite songs because we know he will be singing and watching over us. Go In peace, may your soul finally rest, you will never be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.

“Who's to say where the wind will take you? Who's to say what it is will break you? I don't know which way the wind will blow...,Who's to know when the time's come around? Don't want to see you cry, I know that this is not goodbye”
