Obituary of Linda Sue Billieros

Linda Sue Lake-Billieros (Bland) “Dorothea-Despina”, 61 years old, of Tucson, AZ reposed in the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

Linda was born June 9, 1960 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Louis Lake and Dorothy Matthews .  Linda’s siblings are Diana-Lee, Susie-q and Joy-Kay who has since passed away. Later, Louis married Marleta and then Karl was born which completed their family.  Linda grew up in Texas and Georgia and  finished her final days of schooling in AZ which allowed her to become a Junior High School English Teacher.  She was married to William Billieros for 40 years. His passing brought her closer to the Orthodox Faith and in 2016, she officially was brought into the Church with the baptismal name of Dorothea-Despina.  In 2019, Dorothea met Abram “Abe” Bland and on February 2, 2020 they were married  at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Tucson, AZ.  With this beautiful union, Dorothea acquired  a welcoming second family.  St. Demetrios Church became her home parish which she loved to serve.  She participated in the Parish Council, Philoptochos Society as President, the bookstore and volunteered extensively in the church ‘s office.  Dorothea-Despina was a caring and compassionate woman who embodied true grace.  The passing of this playful, loving soul has left a hole in our community and hearts. Peaceful repose, our sister in Christ.

The Trisagion Service/Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2022 from 9:00am – 11:00am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1145 E. Ft. Lowell Road, Tucson , AZ 85719. Rev. Fr. Panteleimon Maillis officiating.  Interment immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705.
